What is Proost?
Proost began as a publishing outlet around which a creative community formed. After a hiatus, we have reformed—with community at the centre.
We exist to create online and offline spaces where artists can connect, collaborate, and conspire towards good. Most of us are spiritual seekers in the Christian tradition, but we are intentional in welcoming those whom our tradition has too often excluded. Theologically, we embrace a generous orthodoxy—some of us are active in church communities, others are not.
Our work is shaped by the passions and resources of our community. We have no external funding and are not affiliated with any denomination or organisation, though we welcome partnerships with those who share our vision.
We believe art is both a spiritual discipline and a prophetic voice. In searching for depth, we engage our culture as hopeful, faithful critics—seeking justice for the excluded and oppressed. In a world of widening inequality, climate breakdown, and ecosystem depletion, this pursuit extends to both human and non-human kin.
We often feel powerless. But we have creativity, art, and a deep longing for connection. Proost exists to network, encourage, and create…
…and yes, we still publish when we can. We also have a YouTube stream and a podcast.
